A World Heritage Site and one of the seven natural wonders of the world, Grand Canyon National Park encompasses more than 1.2 million acres and is 277 miles long. Due to its enormous depth, the Colorado River, the main erosive force that carved the canyon, is visible at only certain viewpoints along the rim. The canyon is 18 miles across at its widest from rim to rim and 600 yards across at its narrowest. The North Rim is 1,100 feet higher than the South Rim, and some say it provides better views. Do not miss the opportunity to take in the panoramic vistas at some of the North Rim’s viewpoints, including Bright Angel Point, Point Imperial and Cape Royal.
